Leaders Who Fear Competition From Their Followers

Leaders Who Fear Competition From Their Followers

Leaders who fear competition from their followers can be found virtually everywhere from your office at work, to your business online. The questions you want to ask yourself if what type of leader are you. Are you one of the leaders who fear competition from their followers?

A leader who is afraid of their follower’s success lacks something that is essential in being a great role model and that is self-confidence. The true testament of a great leader is someone who cares more about the success of their followers than of their own personal success because the concept is if you help them do great you will A: Build a lifetime relationship B: Have a loyal follower C: Their success is your success and that is something that you can be proud of at the end of the day.

When you are afraid of your followers and of what they can accomplish what ends up happening is your followers will end up giving you a reason to be afraid. It is similar to a self-fulfilling prospect.

The able and willing leader will train people to be like understudies, capable of doing his job should something happen to him or he is unable to do it himself. He understands that this is similar to multiplying himself. In this way he can be in many places and be able to give attention to many different people and things and any given time.

It is not a competition between those he leads and himself, rather, those who follow him, become an extension of himself, and a representation of the person that he/she is.

This is a powerful idea, yet, few of the leaders today (mostly in the online world) have truly grasped this concept. Therefore they have rather embraced the thought that the followers should not be able to achieve the same level of success.

You will find that when you take a course or join a business that the training materials are weak with very little in the way of telling you what you really need to do to be successful., or sending you to buy their lead packages or new systems. This stems from the fear that you as the follower will one day become competition for them. The best way to avoid you becoming competition is to keep you from succeeding.

In reality it is those men/women who are able to get other people to perform who truly realize the most success.

It is up to you to decide the type of leader you want to be. Do you want to be the type of leader who is afraid of the competition that comes from their followers or who will train their followers to become extensions of themselves thus producing a mutually beneficial and long-term relationship?
